“Color is my day-long obsession, passion and torment.”

— Claude Monet

Raquel Johnson is a photographer based in San Francisco, California. With a background in graphic design, Raquel’s photography represents years of seeing and utilizing color, form, shape and composition to inspire wonder, communicate an idea or provoke an emotion.

Whether capturing everyday events of the San Francisco Mission District in her street photography, or obsessively chronicling the life of a calla lily, Raquel aims to communicate to the viewer her own take on life. Inspired by the great impressionists, her abstract work will often emphasize color and light as it relates to ordinary objects. Her work has been featured in The Philips Collection, Community in Focus, 2020.

Please contact Raquel directly for projects or to inquire about purchasing her work. Most images available for sale in multiples sizes and printed on archival Hahnemühle paper.
